Commuter Rosary

I commute back and forth to work via public transportation (bus). Quite often either while waiting for the bus or while riding the bus, I pray the rosary. Is this appropriate behavior? Does one get “credit” even though the setting is not before a crucifix or in church?

It is a perfectly fine, potentially meritorious activity to pray the rosary during downtimes such as commutes. As most rosaries have a crucifix attached to the chain, you would be in the presence of the crucifix even if you were not in a church. The only exception would be if you were keeping track of the prayers on your hands and were not otherwise wearing a crucifix. But while being in the presence of a crucifix during praying of the rosary is a good thing, it is not a requirement.
