I’m interested in studying the general ideas of a wide range of old and / or established religions somehow (i.e. not interested in neo-pagan stuff). Can anyone recommend where I might start? I could sign up for a university class somewhere, I’m sure, but with the state of university education being what it is, I’d rather start with something scholarly and reputable.
What would be ideal is an unbiased collection of the histories (claimed and actual) and beliefs of these religions, including systematic analyses of what similarities (if any) they have with one another, but more importantly what makes them distinct religious traditions. Since such a thing probably doesn’t exist, whatever is close enough would do.
God Bless,
