That happened to us once when I was growing up – big brother left the water running in the tub and half the house got a good cleaning. My parents completely lost their minds over it. Personally, I thought a rainstorm in the dining room was rather a nice idea. 😂
 
The real problem is water damage to ceilings. They always stain and those stains need to be treated with a stain blocker or oil paint otherwise they continue to come through each layer of emulsion. Also there is a danger that the plaster board will warp or even drop. Repainting, etc a nightmare before Christmas.
