Does anyone here have the Complete Jewish Bible translated by David Stern? Do you like it or dislike it? Why?

How about ***The Jewish Study Bible *** from Oxford University? Do you like or dislike it? Why?

I have the Oxford Jewish Study Bible (featuring the Jewish Publication Society) and I think its wonderful!! It has extensive footnotes (more or less a side bar commentary) that are very informative, gives historical information when neccessary but doesn’t come across as historical reductionism. Each book is introduced in regards to its history and importance to Jewish thought. In addition there are a number of additional essays at the back of the Bible that cover historic origins, Jewish interpretaion of the Bible ,the Bible in Jewish Life and Thought including the usages of the Bible in the Jewish mystical tradition, Backgrounds for reading the Bible and more!

I definitely recommened it!

The Jewish Study Bible is, I believe, a translation with commentary that is completely Jewish. I think the other one that was posted is what I would call a Jewish study bible for christians. Might be worth it to get them both.

Thanks! I probably will get both. I do want to have one that is actually Jewish.
