Hello!

I have a question regarding Chaplets. Is it okay for me to compose my own prayer sequences? Can I use Rosary beads and pray different prayers on them? And is it acceptable for me to make my own chaplet consisting of lets say like 30 beads and use that for personal prayer, or is this wrong to do?

thank you very much for any answers / advice!

Without a doubt it is okay. Our own personal prayer is the most meaningful. How can He help if we don’t talk to Him?

I guess you could. I don’t see why not. I don’t think it’s prohibited.

I usually go with the preestablished ones, Chaplet of St. Michael, Divine Mercy, the one for the souls in purgatory due to all the promises attached, and the rosary, which can even have indulgences, in some cases.

For instance, there is the Chaplet of St. Gertrude the Great. Check out the benefits:

If one prays the entire St. Gertrude Chaplet (see below), which is said on an ordinary rosary,** Our Lord releases 50,000 souls from purgatory each time it is said! **
How easy it would be to empty out purgatory if we each prayed this form of the rosary just once a day!

I heard that Padre Pio said it WAS possible for us to release the souls from purgatory, all of them, but we’d need to do reparations for them.

I do pray my own concerns, but insofar as chaplets, I haven’t tried to invent my own, because I had thought it’d be like trying to reinvent the wheel.

Yes you can! I created a chaplet using the Ignatian Examen.

The daily Examen is a very important part of Ignatian spirituality and has been a great gift to me. I developed the chaplet one Lent and have continued to use it as a way to prepare for confession. I use the traditional Hail Mary, Our Father, & Glory Be prayers, but I have also included prayers and responses from various Jesuits, past & present. If I find something that is no longer relevant to my situation, I find prayers that are.

Using this chaplet of my own design has really help me in my spiritual life. Both my confessor & spiritual director think that this is a good thing for me and have encouraged me to be more creative in my prayer.

Peace be with you on your journey! 🙂

yes you can!!!

yes you can write, recite, encourage others to recite your own chaplet but make sure you haven’t written any promises of reciting the chaplet until and unless you have a vision of our lord for the same.

for ex.as lord said to Gertrude concerning taking of purgatory souls.
you cannot make that promise of your own.

nevertheless,it very good to recite your own chaplet.

yours in Christ
