Hi everyone, its the first time i join this forum, my concern is that I’m a Catholic and live in sin, my fiance is Non denominational, we live in the same house, ever since past january i started my preparation for Confirmation (The Priest was so compassionate that he gave me a a period of time that I could take Communion and me and my fiance abstained from intimate contact) for a few months, the preparation was a wonderful time for me, and last Sunday I was Confirmed in the most beautiful Ceremony, but next day to my Confirmation we had contact again, and now i feel guilty, i knew it was only a period of time that i could take Communion, Ours its a smal Church and only have mass on Sunday, **I wonder if i could take Communion this Sunday and confess later, or it would be better to just go back to receive only a blessing, **please don’t judge me too hard, I feel guilty im serious, i should have waited at least a couple of weeks, that was my plan, but as you see I failed to do it. I hope to get some advice from Catholic members and excuse my typing, Im not very fluent in english, Thank you in advance!

Your not married through the Church right? If this is the case then I am sorry to say you have committed a mortal sin. No worried we all fall ((especially me) just go to mass and receive what we call spiritual communion, this is where you kneel while everyone takes communion, but you receive it spiritually. Then go to Conffession as soon as you can. Pray so that you and your partner can get married through the Church. Welcome back to the Faith.

Definitely DO NOT receive the Eucharist without confessing. If possible, you can arrange for the priest to hear your confession before Mass on Sunday, if he is understanding and can spare the time. This is very important!!

God Bless 🙂

Thanks to both of you for your answers, I won’t take Holy Communion tomorrow and in the future, I knew better, sorry if my question was even offensive. Thanks again.

Your question was not offensive, don’t worry – that’s how you get answers! 🙂

The correct thing today when you cannot receive Communion is to stay in your pew and make a Spiritual Act of Communion. The practice of going and receiving a blessing in the Communion line has been reprobated by Rome.

Here is an example of a Spirtual Act of Communion:

My Jesus,
I believe that You
are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things,
and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment
receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You.
Amen.

I will pray that you and your fiance get married in Church! And as soon as possible!! Then there will be no need to abstain from communion.👍 Not an offensive question at all…this is a learning process for you. Welcome home!!!

I wish I would have read your message earlier, I didn’t know that but the Priest told me it was ok to receive a blessing, anyway I will take your advice and from now on I will make a Spiritual Act of Communion like your example, thank you!
