I keep thinking of this article by someone at Catholic Answers that says it is easier for a camel to enter the eye of the needle than for an artist to enter the kingdom of heaven. I am working as an llustrator right now, and as incredibly discouraging as that was, I can see what he meant by it. He himself was an artist, and I’ve wanted to reach out to him, but I never felt peace from the Holy Spirit that I should do that.
I feel like my life is devoid of real service. I give to the poor in my community, and I have volunteered at St Vincent De Paul, but it’s honestly not something I do out of joy or love. I think God is calling me to eventually be a religious and teach but I am afraid of doing that and I just am really lacking in faith, hope and charity. I wanted to ask for your prayers, that I wouldn’t fall into despondency, and that I would do God’s will.

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

†

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

†

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Lord Jesus,
up until now you have been quietly
preparing me to be your disciple.
Now the time of preparation is ending.
I seem to hear you say to me, as once to Peter;
“Will you also go away?”

You were saddened then by friends who failed you.
But Peter did not fail.
“Lord,” he said, “to whom shall we go?
You have the words of eternal life.”

I stand with Peter.
Through prayer and counsel,
show me, Lord,
where it is in your vineyard
that you want me to serve.
Then give me strength to be faithful.

Mary, Mother and Model,
help me to respond in generous love
to the call of your Divine Son.

Amen.

If you are thinking about a call to the priesthood, then you should have a spiritual director to help you focus and sort things out. Make an appointment with your priest and see if he can recommend someone, if he is not available.

Praying to the Holy Spirit to give you guidance, direction, strength, fortitude & wisdom in your time of need.

The quote about passing through the eye of an needle is a sight misquote. However, it didn’t mean that it was or is impossible for a rich man to attain heaven, but a lot harder because of all our attachments to the things of the secular, material world. We carry a lot of baggage in this world. As to your vocation…I don’t know the answer, but will pray for you to find your path.🙂

Our Father, Who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Gracious and merciful Father, please come to their assistance.

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
Amen.
