Catholics concerned about recent policy changes by the Boy Scouts of America may want to investigate some of the strong Catholic groups for boys and young men. These organizations provide opportunities for outdoor adventure, combining recreational activities with faith-based opportunities to learn about Catholicism and to grow closer to God.

Also see Conquest Youth Ministry. Although sold to parishes primarily as a youth ministry program it has a lot of outdoor stuff like Scouts. I worked with it and found it was really helpful for forming boys and young men in virtue.

I know several of the guys I went to high school with made it to Eagle so they could enlist in the military at a higher rank. That’s only available via BSA and GSA (gold award).
