I have witnessed both many times and places (including here) a strong defense of Islam. While I understand and respect this on certain levels, I can’t seem to understand how the defenders (both Islamic and Christian) can claim that Islam has been “hijacked”, “wrongfully controlled” ,or whatever by “extremists”. From what I have found studying the Qu’ran and the faith, these “extremists” are doing exactly what their book instructs them to do. I know as a Catholic Christian the different viewpoints and spin that a particular group can put on scripture (i.e. Protestantism v. Catholicism), but don’t all Muslims believe that the Qu’ran is the inspired, perfect word of God…without any alternative interpretation? If so, I would have to conclude that the Islamic “extremists” are actually the consistant ones…according to their faith. God bless you all.

"Fight against those to whom the Scriptures were given as believe in neither God nor the last day, who do not forbid what God and his messenger have forbidden, and who do not embrace the true faith, until they pay tribute out of hand and are utterly subdued" (Surah 9:29).

Personally, The Holy Bible, if taken out of context, can appear to be a bloody book also. One of the great kings of Israel was about as bloody as you can imagine. He was also one of the great repentents of all time, he was a truly great man, who asked for forgiveness and mercy alot.

I would hope someone, would please point out to me that in the Koran too? Are there instances in the Koran that shows examples of love, forgiveness, repenting ? All I get is the Western anti-Islam slant. I love you all.
