Concerts on Sunday okay?

I know I post on here a lot, but it is so trustworthy. Haha.

Okay, So I have no intention of missing mass, in the evening there will be a show in town for a band called The Great Commission, there music I guess helped me when I was overcoming my Scrupulous attack which I am overcoming and rarely happens now, Glory Be to God.

But this show is on a Sunday evening… is it okay to go? The band IS a “preachy” band, they call themselves “heavy worship” lol, as for there church attending I don’t know but I do know they share a positive message of God himself… I won’t be going insane but I would like to go and sing along then be at home watching TVs or on the internet. Or be scruply lol
Is this okay?

As long as you attend Mass, it is acceptable. I personally dislike noise, but many enjoy it.

If the band is such that preaches anti-Catholicism, Protestantism, Calvinism, or has an “altar call” where people are invited to “accept Jesus as personal Lord and savior” (I don’t know if any bands do, and the very notion of an altar call is contradictory to the fourth of the five points of Calvinism), I would doubt its acceptability. I doubt any band could go that far and still be profitable, though.

You’re right - you are being scrupulous. Yes, it’s Okay to attend a concert on a Sunday.

What exactly is an Altar Call?
I mean the band isn’t telling people to leave their religions…
And there lyrics And music is something that sounds okay?

That’s fine - I was (in my own scrupulosity) pointing out that they can’t be an extreme band. I figured, “I know there are bands that sing the praises of Nazism, so why not anti-Catholic bands?” - there have to be idiots who sing about every sort of hatred imaginable.

An “altar call” is where a preacher asks people to “accept Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and savior, and to be born again in the spirit” - something incompatible with Catholicism. Many really devout Protestants view it as a mission to “save” Catholics, having no understanding of history or theology (they’ll claim “as soon as you accept Jesus, you are forever saved, even if you are a rapist and murderer until you die”), not understanding that Catholics are born again of water in Baptism, and of Spirit in Confirmation.

As long as they’re not preaching hate towards Catholics, etc. it’s fine. Especially if it’s a Christian band, which it sounds like it is - always better than a secular one.

From that lyric, it sounds like a generic Christian band, much like, I think they are called “Firefly” or “Flyleap” (or something like that, with “fly” in it), except more devout (a good thing).

Maria, there is no reason not to go to a concert on a Sunday. Of course, go to Mass first, as it is Sunday. If the band makes a joyful noise unto the Lord, great! One does not have to be Catholic to do that, although it helps. When one sings, one prays twice. Above all, rise above scrupulosity by knowing that God is Love, He loved you before you were born, and will love you always.
