Concise resource for variations in early manuscripts?

Is there a simple chart detailing some of the more famous manuscripts or codices, and what the minute differences in each of them are?

I’m not looking for a book…something more reference-ish or at-a-glance.

Any critical edition of the bible original texts will have that. For the New Testament, one of the most popular is Nestlé’s Novum Testamentum Graece et Latine.

Unlikely to find what you are looking for. The best resource for your goals are the critical editions which include extensive apparatuses that cite all significant various readings. But a chart, no I’m afraid I haven’t found any; even the apparatus in the New Testament looks quite extensive.

Seriously, though. I attempted one before for my adult education class some years ago just as a visual teaching aide to drive home the fact that the Bible we take so much for granted today just didn’t fall out of the sky. It was very basic and didn’t note the minute differences that you’re looking for. Sorry, but it’s long gone…lost it somewhere during my various moves.

Your best bet is consult the works of Bruce Metzger, both his *Text of the New Testament *and Canon of the New Testament…both the standard works in English on those sbjects. Worth the investment!
