The more I find out about Cardinal O’Malley, the more I like him. There’s something likable, too, about the expression on his face. I know that shouldn’t matter but it does. The Capuchins are respected everywhere as far as I know, but would his being an Order priest be a disadvantage in the election?

No. There have been popes in the past who were also religious. And several of the present day cardinal electors are religious.
Infact the reason the pope wheres whites is because (dont know the pope’s name) there was a pope who was a dominican and white is their habit.
So the tradition of white has just been continued.

There are a few candidates that impressed me, although it looks like Cardinal Scola (sp.?) is the front runner. I suppose we all really know very little about the Cardinals…just what the journalists choose to tell us. Remember all the stuff about Cardinal Ratzinger being the Pope’s Rottweiler? The monster I was expecting proved to have the most gentle expression and demeanour. I’ll put my trust in the Holy Spirit.
