hello to you all,
can you please answer me this?,if a person has a conditional baptism and then finds out he /she has already been baptised are that person’s sins forgiven from the start of the conditional one? in other words is he/she forgiven twice?do they start off with a clean slate again from the second one?.thanks, mick.

You can only be baptized once. With baptism come the forgiveness of your sins. So if you are conditionally baptized and it turns out you were already baptized correctly, you would not be forgiven of your sins again because the conditional wouldn’t actually be a baptism after all.

God BLess,
Matt

After six years of teaching the pre-baptism classes at my parish, I would have to agree with you 100%…👍

That’s my understanding as well. I think that is why a general confesion is required prior to a conditional Baptism. This is what I had to do before my conditional Baptism this past Easter vigil.

Thanks,

Good answer Matt! 👍 I was not certain of this myself.

I don’t know if the Episcopal Church practices conditional baptisms or not.
