Hello All-

A quick question. About a month ago, I missed mass because I had been traveling from NY to Seattle and arrived home in the evening. There is a 9pm mass in my area and I would have been able to go, but I would’ve had to leave 15 minutes after getting home from the airport. Obviously, I wasn’t really enthusiastic about going to mass with nothing unpacked and feeling generally unkempt after 6 hours of flying, so I stayed home. I have heard that if one is traveling, one is not necessarily obligated to attend mass on that particular Sunday, but I didn’t know if it applied to this situation.

I confessed it anyway, but I don’t know if I sinned additionally by knowing at the time that I would have to/be able to confess not going? Am I overthinking this?

When in doubt Confess. There is no penalty for confessing non-sins. 😉

Remember that most airports offer Mass Saturday evenings and Sunday mornings in the airport chapel. I myself have attended Mass at Sea-Tac in the 2nd floor chapel.
