Confessing details

Hi everyone,
In confession, If you remember a detail to a sin after you say “for these and all my sins i am truly sorry” are you required to say it? I didn’t at my last confession, would this be a mortal sin? the detail was that i didn’t say who curtain sinful thoughts were directed toward(that would increase them) . I was saying these sinful thoughts because of a possible bad confession months before.

I would suggest meeting with your confessor in confession and discussing your difficulties --such as regarding your question of “possible bad confession months before”. He can assist you in doing whatever is needed.

Thanks for your reply. after the confession (the one this was possibly bad) i judged that it wasn’t bad, but i’m not sure that was the best decision. the hard thing is that it’s a pretty fussy memory. i know that I’ve made sincere confessions after it, now i wonder if these would be bad? i’m just really confused and worried. I’ll definitely bring this up in my next confession, would it be best to refrain from communion until then?

Whenever you REALLY forget a sin, or the details of some sin(s), the confession is still okay. But talking it over is almost always a good idea.

Well, I for one have visited at least five different priests for confessions. Each of them have his own style. Some are pretty strict with the sacrament order, and others are a little more liberal, even though following the steps and clearly saying the absolution formula.

From what you say, I can’t see a mortal sin .
