Confessing every week

Hello C.A forums, Do you think it is okay to confess weekly because you fall to the same sin over and over?

For example, I confessed last friday, then I fell back into that sin 3 days later, then I want to go to confession on that week’s friday.

Whenever I go to confession, I am trying my best to ignore temptations and I feel like a Saint and unblemished after I have been absolved, but then I always fall.

I have no intention on playing with this Sacrament, rather I treat it as a sacrament itself; to be forgiven and to seek grace.

I certainly understand your sincerity and your concern, and where your heart is at. 🙂

I most definitely would ask your priest a question like this though, as to how often you should seek the Sacrament of Penance. He is most qualified to help you and guide you on something like this, more than we are here.

yes . The Sacrament of reconcilliation is a place where Jesus gives us Grace.

My Priests say go as often as we can.

If you have committed a sin, then go to Confession. Doesn’t matter if it’s a new or old sin.
If you have a bad habit causing you to commit the same sin repeatedly, then confess this and ask the priest for help and advice. Also ask for God’s grace to help you keep fighting. Remember the priest in confession is acting as Jesus, so you’re getting advice from Jesus. Be sure to follow the advice.
 
You want to keep as close as possible to Jesus,yes go as often as needed when there’s mortal sin 🙂 The old head can start throwing all sorts of reasons why not to go .There is nothing worse than feeling seperated from the one who loves us
 
I go every week but seldom have a mortal sin to confess. The Church recommends ‘frequent’ confession but does not define what that frequency should be. Mortal sins must be confessed before one receives Holy Communion and should be confessed as soon as possible (weekly is fine).

Do not despair of repeatedly confessing the same sins. I can’t seem to help but confess the same sins against the First Commandment, Pride, and Sloth…over and over again. The priests may be sick of me but I know, through faith and experience, that the graces received through this Sacrament of God’s great mercy are helping me become stronger in these areas of my spiritual life.

Weekly is not normal.
In the young it is often a strong indication of scrupulosity.
Your spirituality and reasoning above also suggests this.

Do you have a regular confessor or do you like to remain anonymous?
If you are likely are tempted to anonymity its another indicator.

You need to make yourself known to a regular confessor if you think you are scrupulous and always follow his advice until you understand things better.
