confessing past sins

I engaged in phone sex twice a few years ago because I was afraid to say no to the guy. I have not done it ever since and I do not plan on doing it again. I didn’t want to do it but I was kind of pressured into doing it so I did. I knew it was a sin but I do not remember if I was aware of how grave the sin is. Am I obligated to confess this?

If it’s bothering you enough to ask the forum, then I say just go ahead and confess it. I know it’s tough, but you’ll be glad that you did it.

I can’t answer as to weather you’re obligated to confess it or not. But even if you’re not obligated to, it’s still a good idea to. The priest can give you some advice to avoid things like that in the future. Besides, by confessing it, you leave no doubt if it was forgiven or not. Just confess it- you’ll feel much better

Hi,
If you have already gone to confession and just forgot this sin, then this sin is forgiven.
If you deliberately held this sin, then that’s a different story.
If I happen to remember something I did years ago and didn’t confess it because I forgot, I still like to tell the priest about it, but remember all your past sins are forgiven. You can just say to the priest that you have had impure conversations on the phone with someone a couple of times and you did it years ago and you remembered it and want to confess because you feel sorrowful. You don’t have to get into detail, God knows what you mean, he knows what you did already. It just shows humility and God will give you extra graces for it.

I just recently remembered this sin and I suppose I just wanted someone to say that I’m not obligated to confess this because I’m embarrassed to. But I am going to do it anyway. Thanks again!
