Are you supposed to confess this every time you go to confession because I THINK I read that? Is it true. If not then what would constitute pride?

It is a good question. Pride underlies all sin; sin is rebellion from God’s law to “do our own thing.” So when you confess certain sins, you are in a sense confessing pride.
That said, I also find myself confession pride per se as it has reared its head in situations: for example, if I purposely built myself up to put someone else down, etc.

I have read this too. I don’t confess pride every time I go to confession but I do quite often.

After you say all your sins, you could just say, “a lot of these sins I did though pride,” that way your telling why you did it. It works for me.

One of the apps I use has an examination of conscience based on the beatitudes. It, in conjunction with one based on the ten commandments, is great for preparing for confession. Here are some based around the gift of Fear of the Lord:
  • Do I put my trust in Jesus in difficulties, or do I react out of self-righteousness?
  • Do I receive correction with humility and gratitude?
  • Is my life on earth one of purification and love or gratification and selfishness?

You can have a healthy spiritual pride.
God gives many believers a sense of honor and pride.
Pride is not ALL bad.

I do occasionally, but more often my wife quickly brings me down to earth by bursting my bubble and tells me like it is.

You would confess actions or deliberately ruminated thoughts in Confession, and then confessors often advise - as St Francis de Sales did - that the penitent state the motivation or vice behind the action. i.e. “Out of pride, I kept pushing an argument with a spouse/friend/coworker even though I knew it wasn’t being constructive”, “Out of pride, I didn’t bother trying at all because I wanted to be #1”, etc.

Peace.

Hello.

If it’s always a cause of sin for you then it might be a good idea to confess it often. God gives us a lot of graces in confession to help us overcome our sins.

My two cents…

It’s something that really goes without saying. Going to confession is because of pride. but you might have a particular sin that included “feeling too proud” . for example, “i was too proud to show affection towards my family, and because of it hurt my mother’s feelings”.
