Hi All,
Its not the kidding matter.
In fact, its one of the sacrament. We need to keep our words as much as possible. As one friend told, that nobody is perfect. so, try to live with your ACT of C.

After all, we are humans, we have to have some resistance to evil’s intentions.

We can try at least.

Obviously we cannot deceive God.

We can be disgusted and hate our sins and still commit them. No better example of this is in the area of personal sexual sins. My point is that we as Catholics are put in the impossible position of telling God that we “won’t do it again”… When we know that we probably will…* eventually*.

Not sure what Act of Contrition you are using but the one I learned goes like this:
“Oh my God I am heartily sorry for having offended you and I detest all of my sins. Because I fear the loss of Heaven and the fires of Hell but most of all because I have offended you, my God, who are all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the aid of Thy Grace, to confess my sins, do penance and to amend my life.”

Nothing in there about promising not to sin again. Maybe you just need to learn the right Act of Contrition 🙂
I like this act of contrition. I might try it today:). Planning on being perfect in the future is possible (with God stealing my will and 100% driving my life) otherwise just do my best?(which is half hearted sometimes) or wait till heaven?

Are you intending not to sin any more?
If yes, then you have the contrition needed.
If you are frustrated because these addictions are hard to break, that is not what the line in the act of contrition means. It mean you intend to not sin with God’s grace. We are all going to fall. Keep taking it a day at a time.

After confessing our sins, we say an Act of Contrition.
We tell God that we are going to stop sinning when we know darn well that it’s not true no matter how sorry we really are. Who are we kidding?

All we can do his strive to never sin and when we do, get back where Jesus’ boundless Mercy can be applied - the confessional:

Jesus to saint Faustina:

Write, speak of My mercy. Tell souls where they are to look for solace; that is, in the Tribunal of Mercy. There the greatest miracles take place [and] are incessantly repeated. To avail oneself of this miracle, it is not necessary to go on a great pilgrimage or to carry out some external ceremony; it suffices to come with faith to the feet of My representative and to reveal to him one’s misery, and the miracle of Divine Mercy will be fully demonstrated. Were a soul like a decaying corpse so that from a human standpoint, there would be no [hope of ] restoration and everything would already be lost, it is not so with God. The miracle of Divine Mercy restores that soul in full. Oh, how miserable are those who do not take advantage of the miracle of God’s mercy! You will call out in vain, but it will be too late. (1448)

Today the Lord said to me, Daughter, when you go to confession, to this fountain of My mercy, the Blood and Water which came forth from My Heart always flows down upon your soul and ennobles it. Every time you go to confession, immerse yourself in My mercy, with great trust, so that I may pour the bounty of My grace upon your soul. When you approach the confessional, know this, that I Myself am waiting there for you.** I am only hidden by the priest, but I myself act in your soul. Here the misery of the soul meets the God of mercy**. Tell souls that from this fount of mercy souls draw graces solely with the vessel of trust. If their trust is great, there is no limit to My generosity. The torrents of grace inundate humble souls. The proud remain always in poverty and misery, because My grace turns away from them to humble souls. (1602)
My daughter, just as you prepare in My presence, so also you make your confession before Me. The person of the priest is, for Me, only a screen. Never analyse what sort of a priest it is that I am making use of; open your soul in confession as you would to Me, and I will fill it with My light. (1725)
