Confession (Adultery Mortal Sin) Question

quick question…

i know that premarital sex as well as cohabitation are mortal sins, for the purpose of confession…is adultery considered a mortal sin if it took place in a relationship where the couple was never married?

It might very well be because it falls under the category of sex outside of marriage. Sexual relations, regardless of what society says, are reserved only for those who are married to each other.

Not quite sure what you are asking. Adultery requires that at leastone of the parties be married to someone else. If neither party is married it is fornication, not adultery. Fornication is also a grave sin, but a lesser sin than adultery.
 
I’m not sure what your question is, really. But I do know the answer.

You said pre-marital sex is a mortal sin, which is right, but not broad enough. All non-marital sex is a mortal sin (this, BTW, would include sex when you’re the only one there-if you know what I mean).

I’m not sure that there is a difference in the degree of sin between pre-marital, extra-marital, or “alone” activities.
