it is up to you. Some people like to clear things up with a priest after a long absence from the Church. I would say that is very good.
On the other hand, some people find it is more difficult to do that but nevertheless have the desire to return to the Church.
After being baptized, you are a Catholic already. You only have not been practicing for sometimes.
All of these can be covered during an ordinary Confession time. So basically, it is your choice.
Meeting a priest personally allows you to discuss issues you want to bring up, so there’s an advantage in that.
Confession also allows for those who have lapsed to have a normal Confession. That’s the beauty of the love and forgiveness of God. He is like a loving Father, who is sitting on a verandah watching the road. And when he sees his son coming back, he just get up from his chair and runs towards the son, to welcome him.
