Yeah, I saw some of the movie. Maybe not a good place to ask. Also maybe scrupulous, Is this movie soft pornography? In preparation for confession, Should I confess and say I saw “pornography”, “soft-core pornography,” “child pornography”, or “soft-core child pornography”? Does the wording matter? save my soul.

Strictly speaking, the movie is not pornography. It is a movie with artistic value, but expressed and/ or promoted poorly in a manner that is exploitative of the children appearing in it.

If you feel it was an occasion of sin for you, then simply say you watched a movie that tempted you to sin (if indeed it did) or that you feel needlessly exploited children.

Why not just say you watched some of the movie Cuties and felt horrible about it? It’s probably not a mortal sin, anyway because of the 3 conditions: grave matter, full knowledge, full consent.

True. “I watched part of the movie Cuties, which shows very young girls dancing in a very provocative manner. I was curious…” ??

I saw the dance clip; it is appalling. Rotten Tomatoes critics rate it above 90% and it’s award winning, but public reviews have the rating to under 5% and there are mass Netflix cancellations. I wish I could say I cannot believe a parent would allow their child to act in such a movie, but the draw of wealth and fame corrupts.

In its favor, the girl at the end does pretty dramatically renounce her bad behavior (which is triggered by a bad family situation, her dad is a polygamist who has just appeared with a new fiancee and her mom is forced to accept it), and goes back to being a kid playing jump rope.

If a man had a video like Cuties on his computer, he’d be arrested for having child porn and have to register as a sex offender.

The person at Netflix who allowed this, should be arrested and charged with sexual abuse of minors.

No, child porn has to be the explicit display of sexual relations with a minor.

No fade to black, no off camera action.

Anything less is problematic in court.

The legal definition of “child porn” varies by jurisdiction. The movie likely doesn’t qualify, and a prosecution likely wouldn’t work.

Having said that, it is exploitative even if not pornographic, and I agree that it’s not the type of thing a normal, average male would want to be associated with.

Also, this isn’t a defense of the movie, but if you look on Youtube you can find videos of scantily clad young girls, who appear to be several years younger than the movie actresses, doing similar dance routines for real life contests. Apparently this is a “thing” in some circles, possibly outside USA. YouTube isn’t pulling the videos.

If it ends up in court, it does imply that the person could be arrested for it. How else would they end up in court?

He meant it won’t make it to court because the prosecutor won’t prosecute it due to the elements of a crime not being met.

Have you read the federal definition of child porn?
Yes, the FBI sends child porn requirements to tech companies that have access to customer hard drives. We are required by law to report child porn, smut (murder rape video) and bestiality (last one is state dependant) to them upon discovery.

The list is longer then that but it’s the top three.

No it doesn’t.

Taking photos of underage children, especially under age children performing sexual simulated acts is against the law.

A man in my town was arrested and charged with child possession of under age teen aged girls. They had bathing suits on and he photographed them while they were at the Boy Scout camp he was a leader at. He was caught by a parent of one of the girls, reported to the police and was arrested. He’s now a registered sex offender.

It’s perversion as in Cuties which has our society in trouble, as there are those who have disordered sexual attraction toward children. Why stimulate their disordered desires ?

We have defrocked priests and hundreds of millions of dollars for acts against minors which were no more different than what’s shown in the movie Cuties.

Prosecutors today now go after men who have such videos on their computers.
