Confession App

Does anyone take their iphone or ipod with them to confession. I recently purchased a confession app. I am not sure what the priest would think of me reading off of my ipod, even though I have always written my sins on a small piece of paper to take with me. I just wondered if anyone had any experience with this.

I use a Confession app, it’s much easier than pieces of paper. No paper to leave lying around, records date of last Confession, it’s fantastic. I’ve gone to Confession face-to-face several times using my iPod touch and the priests have never said anything or even looked surprised. The apps are very useful and I think more and more people who struggle with confession are using them to guide them.

Yup. I’ve been using Confession on my iPad since the app was released. I’ve been to Confession with three different priests in that time - two of them face-to-face - and none of them blinked an eye. I love it for a lot of reasons, but I think the biggest one is the number of Acts of Contrition it gives for me to select from. It’s an embarrassment if choice.

I don’t know which app you have, but my only qualm with Confession is that it crashes a lot, usually it least once per Confession. It’s annoying, and I’ve complained to the developers, but thus for no stability update has been released.

I say go for it.

Luna, I haven’t tried the confession app as of yet but I did have a problem with angry birds crashing on my ipod and what I did was to shut the ipod down by holding the power button and then restarting. I haven’t had angry birds crash since. It may help with the confession app.
 
Anything that gets you in the confessional and helps you make a good act of contrition has to be a good thing!

FYI - we’ve introduced our First Solemn Communicants to the app in preparation for their first confession. The kids really embraced it!

Yeah, I power down my device at least once a week when I do a backup. No joy on fixing the crashing with that app. 😦 It’s by far the least stable app I’ve got.

And it works wonderfully for those who write things down and go to dark confessionals. I must admit I go to confession frequently, but I still have to write down the act of contrition.
I actually went to confession for the first time with my Ipad, and the priest was ok with it.
