I’ve been planning on going to confession at another Catholic Church in my area because they have it available in the morning. But, I’m rally nervous, because I’ve never been there before. I know where the church is, but I’ve never been inside. I’m kind of afraid that I’m going to walk in there and make a fool out of myself, and end up making a lousy confession because of my nervousness. Now I know that I could just go to confession at my own parish which is available later in the evening, but I’d really like to go earlier since I’ve been putting it off. It feels awful being far from God.
But anyway, I’m sure some of you out there have been to confession at another parish. Were you nervous at all? :o

Yep! I was very nervous, but I’m not sure why. It turned out to be the best confession I’ve ever had, so go, don’t be nervous, and come out squeaky clean:D
Peace,
Susan

Anxious is more like it. In fact, I like this other parish much more than my own because the confessors there…are incredibly filled with the wisdom of the Holy Spirit. Go, you might be unbelievably blessed like me.

Not one bit! I was “away” from the church for a long time, knew I had to go to confession, went to Mass in a neighboring parish( not my “home” parish) talked to the priest after Mass and the rest is history. He was wonderful and I was thrilled. You may be surprised at how at ease you may feel. Relax!

Yes, I was very nervous. If you aren’t sure where the confessions are held in the church, just stay in a pew until you see the line begin to form. Or if you get there early you will most likely see the priest enter his side of the confessional or reconciliation room. Then you can tell where to go.

I have been nervous at such a prospect. It is fear of the unknown. Don’t be afraid to get a “lay of the land” and see where things are before you get into the confessional or reconcilation room. And don’t be afraid to tell the priest you are nervous.
