Thank you! I do that a lot. I’ll forget it, and I won’t recieve, and then confess it the next week, then remember another one. Sometimes I go a long time without recieving communion…Yes. If you truly forget to confess a sin, you are forgiven anyway (of all your sins, including this one), and you may receive Holy Communion. You can mention it at a later confession if you feel the need. But yes, it is forgiven.
On the other hand, if you purposefully hide a sin, that is different.
I’m not sure if they are… I was told the mortal sins were adultery, murder, and autopasty of Christianity, but apparantly there are a LOT. I don’t know which are which and I may go back this week because I feel that I didn’t explain a sin thuroughly enough in yesterday’s confession. I asked my priest he said “you don’t have to confess them seeing you’re absolved completely,” but I forgot to tell him I didn’t go into enough detail of one sin… I do write them down but when I leave the confessional I’ll remember a sin I didn’t write down from years ago. And yes I have been told I have scruples.Are you truly committing mortal sins each week? If you forget a venial sin in confession you can go to communion since venial sins don’t even have to be confessed and are forgiven at the Penitential rite and by receiving Communion. Do you have a problem with scrupulosity?
Also it sounds that since you are continually forgetting sins perhaps you need to write them down or do a better examination of conscience right before you go to confession.
I did, he said I can still recieve communion, and he told me not to confess the forgotten sins because they are already forgiven. Im not sure why, maybe because he thinks its feeding into the scruples…You need to speak to your priest. Make an appointment if necessary. It does sound that you are scrupulous so it is best for you to only go to one priest for confession and follow his advice on how often to confess and whether to bring up past
While it is commendable to confess venial sins, it is not necessary to bring up past venial sins. Mortal sins involve grave matter, deliberate intention, and full knowledge.
