Confession: forgiveness of sins

Recently I read in the forum regarding " forgiveness of sins only in the confessional".
I have my own explanation of “forgivenessof sins for non Catholic Christians”, but I would love to hear YOUR explanation of how non Catholic Christians are forgiven when they confess to the Lord on their own, if you will.:rolleyes::confused:
 
God is bigger than the sacrament. If a non-catholic asks for forgiveness, has perfect contrition for his sins, God will forgive. that doesn’t mean that Confession, in the Catholic sense, isn’t necessary. IMO one Confession is worth more than a million ‘confessions’ done in private. at least when you leave Confession, you know your sins are forgiven.
