Is it ok to go to confession on Saturday when you already went that Wednesday? Can you go twice a week?
 
This past week, I had gone on Thursday (the 29th) and then I went again on Tuesday… when I told the priest how long it had been there was no problem, so I’m assuming it’s fine. I’ve never heard of any rule against going as often as you need to. 🙂
 
Yes, it’s fine. Hopefully it’s not for the same thing, but even if it is, I think it is best to go.
 
Some people go to confession/mass everyday – my Italian great-grandmother would do that.

I wonder what you would confess if you went everyday, though…

Personally, I would just love for there to be a church where it had morning and evening mass (7:00am and maybe 7pm), with confession just before every mass. 🙂
 
Yup, both John Paul 2 and Mother Teresa used to go more than once a week.
 
Just a silly question here…

Why would it be wrong to go more than once a week?

I ask since it just never occurs to me to think there is some kind of limit to the graces God makes available to us if only we make some effort on our part to accept them.

It can lead a priest to conclude that you are being overly scrupulous.

Mother Teresa went daily. JP2 went three times a week,

Some people go to confession repeatedly out of a mistaken sense of scruples - either seeing sin where there is none, or repeatedly attempting to confess the same sins because they don’t feel they did so correctly the first time or just don’t ‘feel’ forgiven.
 
you can go as often as you need to, and as often as they are offered in your area. You can even call for an appointment if necessary. If your priest tells you otherwise in confession, and gives you other direction and spiritual counsel, follow his advice, and do not second guess his advice, or start shopping around for different advice.

That would be absolutely great (two Masses being offered)! I’m fortunate because at our parish the priest is in the confessional for 30 minutes before each Mass no matter what, he’s extremely dependable like that.

Quick story: It was nerve-racking Saturday. I had decided to go with my mom and step-father to the vigil Mass at their parish. I knew I needed to go to confession and I was desperately trying to get there early to pull the priest to the side (I was determined!). I asked the usher where he was and he pointed me to the sacristy.

The priest finally showed up and I asked him if I could confess my sins to him so I could receive communion. He stated that he really didn’t have time…that’s when I literally started begging. He agreed and was so sweet about it. Massive weights had been lifted because not only had I received absolution, but because I could also receive the Eucharist on Easter.

I was freaking but thankfully it all worked out!

Don’t recall where I heard or read this. Think that it might have even been on this board. But I heard/read that a priest was never to deny a person the opportunity to go to confession.

Anyone hear the same thing?

From the Code of Canon Law (1983)

**Can. 986 §1. All to whom the care of souls has been entrusted in virtue of some function are obliged to make provision so that the confessions of the faithful entrusted to them are heard when they reasonably seek to be heard and that they have the opportunity to approach individual confession on days and at times established for their convenience.

§2. In urgent necessity, any confessor is obliged to hear the confessions of the Christian faithful, and in danger of death, any priest is so obliged.
