Just wondering how often people on this forum go to confession.

I’d love to go weekly, but in reality make it about every 6-8 weeks or so. This is an area of spiritual attack for me … something always comes up at 3pm on Saturdays! It’s horrible.

I have a new priest in my parish who is trying to teach that one should only present themselves for communion on Sunday if they have gone to confession on Saturday. How cool is that?

Wow, that is rather amazing about the priest encouraging the Saturday confession.

I would like to go weekly too but sometimes there’s usually some obstacle or perhaps laziness on my part!

I go about every few weeks and I try not to go less than once every 2 months.

I want to go every week… I just made it today after four months :(… it felt really good to clean everything out and go to Mass right after, and receive Communion. :bowdown2:

Monthly. Due to an odd schedule I work 33.3% of all Saturdays. Need to plan ahead though, so I don’t have a beer or two while mowing the lawn that day.

Every couple of months; usually immediately before or after the early morning week day Mass, not during the posted Saturday afternoon time. Father’s not rushed at that time, so there can also be some spiritual direction; pennance tends to take the form of meditation on a portion of Scripture or readings from the Church Fathers. I’d like it to be more often, but I need to respect Father’s time, also.

I like to go monthly, but Saturdays for me also is difficult. After some investigation I found a parish by my office that hears confession on the first Thursday before the first friday of the month. This has been a God-send (both confession itself and the Thursday confession). Now I can get to confession on my way home from work and I have even started the Nine First Fridays devotion.

I like to go as much as possible, usually once a week, sometimes more. My Parish has confession a half an hour before every Mass. With an average of four Masses daily plus a two and a half hour block of time on Saturday means plenty of opportunity for this wonderful sacrament. I love not having to wait to be able to confess.

I voted ‘whenever necessary’. Usually that works out to weekly/biweekly.

*sigh

I like to make it each week. Preferably on a Thursday (the day of the Eucharist). I am a daily Communicant and feel that it is very necessary to confess at least once a week. we are spolied here in Naas for Confession. We have the opportunity to Confess at any of the three sessions available on Thursday’s, Friday’s and Saturday’s each week.
I have no problem attending the Holy Mass on a daily basis, I am never tempted to stay away, but I am always tempted to ‘leave’ the Rosary until another time. I use the nightly Rosary to prepare for Communon the following morning. The devil hates us receiving Holy Communion. I now feel he hates the time spent preparaing our hearts to receive Communion even more.
I too often feel that horrible onslaught of temptation on Saturdays. It is Our Lady’s day but also the day of preparation for Sunday.
If I am acting as Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion the onslaught is more intense.
Frequest reception of Holy Communion drives me to frequent Confession. It gives me strength to avoid occassions of Mortal Sin. It drives my memory into reverse and I am always reminded of ‘sins’ I have forgotten.
I guess what I am trying to say is that I go once a week because it works for me and drives my Spiritual Growth.

I confess weekly because even I’m not a student at theology, I want to be a priest, I studdy economics now, but after the draduation I’ll follow the theology university for priesthood and these are the rules at the St. Joseph University in Romania.

As much as possible which is several times a month.

I guess I have a lot to confess. :o

Peace and God Bless

At Fatima Mary recommended going to confession at least once a month, so that’s what I try to do. I feel really guilty when I miss a Saturday now.

Ideally at least monthly but in actuality… well, more like every other month.

I try to go monthly, but I haven’t made it in almost two (this Saturday’s looking good, though ;)). Most of the time I kind of have to feel guilty about something before I go, though. Otherwise I feel like I’m abusing the sacrament. Usually after a month’s time, however, I’ve sinned (venially, most of the time :o) enough that I at least feel I have something to confess. If there’s something on my conscience, however, I’ll make it to confession the next Saturday no matter what.

I try to go at least twice a year; once during lent and once during advent. I should probably go more often. :o

I would love to go weekly, as a devotion. But at my last confession, Father told me that I shouldn’t go more than once a month. He said that in my journey I am not wanting to sin and therefore won’t. (That’s being VERY optimistic!!😉 ) I told him my “sins” and that sometimes I felt that I had to stay away from receiving communion until confession because I didn’t want to offend our Lord. He then told me that I didn’t need to stay away from communion. Of course, he was just installed as the new pastor of the parish. But I feel the need to go at least every couple of weeks and especially before I am to be EMHC.

For me, the sacrament of confession is such a beautiful sacrament. So much healing takes place in the confessional. But I didn’t always feel this way. It has only been in the past 3 1/2 yrs that my attitude towards this sacrament has changed.

Do you guys know Padre Pio said we should go to confession at the least once a week? And that St.Thomas Aquinas went to confession once a day?
