my question is it a good confession if you go to another parish so that you wont have to cofess to a priest something that would make you embaressed to have the priest who is a friend know your sin

Yes. You are at complete liberty to make your confession wherever it suits you.

Is the confession valid? Yes! You may, however, want to set up a system where you go to the same priest for confession so he can act as a spiritual director…it’s perfectly fine if this priest is not a “friend” though he probably will become one.

God Bless,

Confession is valid anywhere as long as you are confessing to a Catholic priest and you are meeting the requirements of confessing all your mortal sins & asking for absolution & penance.

Dear friend

Yes you can do that as others have told you, but I would also consider the sin of pride here. Why are you ashamed, a friend is someone who loves you no matter what, right?

God Bless you and much love and peace to you

Teresa

I have done that in the past. Not only because I didn’t want to confess to my priest who is a friend to both me and my husband but because at the time we only had face to face confession and I couldnt handle that. I went where I didn’t know the priest and the had a curtain up. What a relief!

Choose wathever Church or priest you want, as long as both are Catholic. It is legal!

But try to find a priest that you can confess regularly to. The priest will then help you to grow more close to God. Remember God knows your sins already, but He want you to come and confess. In the long run I think you will feel it difficult to have one priest to confess “small sins” to and another one to confess “heavy sins” to. That’s a split.

All the best and God bless!

I prefer to confess to a priest I do not know personally. It removes some of the inhibition.
