I just had to post that I made a confession yesterday that I had waited years to make. (Mind you - there was no mortal sin to confess) but nonetheless - a HUGE burden was lifted from me there, and the most GARGANTUAN ammount of grace was poured out on to me - and I am SOOOOOOOOOOO happy!!! Confession is a great gift - and priests are the COOOOOOOOLest! I love priests!
Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ!!!
:dancing: :yup:
If you think that felt good, try going monthly or weekly

.
I use to go very few times yearly, then let it slip to 2 years. I started going to another parish where confession was readily available on Sundays and it just pulled me in. When you see lines of people, it happens - it’s a good thing to see.
I go weekly, mainly working on matters of virtue or venial matters. Going frequently gives me the grace to work through them.
As my pastor recently said, “if any priest tells you that you don’t need to be in confession for venial sins, find a new priest”.
This is how sanctity is achieved. Not only do you get counsel to work through matters of perfection, but you get the graces to work through them.
Case in point: I was spending too much time in Catholic forums and knew it. I mean, hours per day. Too much of a good thing can be bad. Much was getting neglected, including my prayer life. After being unable to resolve it on my own over a few months, I finally coughed it up in confession, fully expecting my confessor to pull the plug on my activity. Instead, he gave me 20 minutes daily. That is barely enough to read through a set of posts, but nonetheless, it worked. It was still hard, but I limit it to 20 minutes in the AM now. I don’t get to be on any time of the day and all kinds of things are getting done. My prayer life has boomed.
I took this in under the heading of “intemperence”. Any good confessor would never turn away someone working through such issues.
