Question…
I have committed a mortal sin and immediately I was sorry for committing it. I am just sick to my stomach about it actually. My problem is that the earliest confession times are Saturday. I have said an act of contrition and am very sorry for what I did. Am I ok until I can get to confession? I know I need to confess ASAP but Sat is the earliest that I can. What do I do?

Please help!!:crying:

You ought to be able to call your parish office and schedule an appointment with the priest to hear your Confession. This is pretty standard.

I have done that before but the problem is I don’t have a chance this week to make an appointment. I have to work and can’t take a lunch to do that. I’m planning to go as soon as I can on Saturday and like I said I’m unbelievably repentant of what I did. I’ve already asked God to forgive me but I just can’t get to confession until Saturday. I know it should be a priority and believe me it is. I try to go as often as I can (usually at the least, once a month) but I can’t make it until Saturday at the earliest. Am I going to be ok until then?😦

CatholicGirl,
I noticed that you are in Tennessee. If you are in the Nashville area, St. Joseph’s has both Wed and Sat confession times; both are following the 8am mass.

If you are not in the Nashville area, you should be fine. Don’t receive Holy Communion before you can get to Confession of course, but you should be okay. As another poster has already suggested, perhaps you could make an appointment to meet with your parish Priest at a time that is good for both of you. God bless.

Can you go before or after work maybe? If not, don’t sweat it, say a good Act of Perfect Contrition, tell God you firmly resolve to confess at the next opportunity and be at peace.

God wants you to get to confession as much as you want to go - in fact more so. I’m sure He’s not hovering over you waiting for the few days you’re unable to go to confession to seize his chance to zap you into oblivion or anything. :nope:

just go to your local church, knock on some doors till you get a priest and ask him to hear your confession, im sure he will be more than happy to help you. i do it all the time when needs be.

If you were to die right now, you would still be fine. Your desire to go to confession at the earliest opportunity would be enough to save you. Mind, this doesn’t mean you don’t have to go when you get the chance, just that God isn’t petty.

Blaine is telling you exactly what the Church teaches.

I will pray for you.
