Recently, a news crew from ABC visited the Catholic Center in the Citadel mall in Colorado Springs.

They did some filming for an upcoming segment to be aired on Good Friday on Good Morning America (GMA.) This was prompted by a piece in the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) last year about how confession is making a comeback. The WSJ piece covered mainly the Catholic perspective, but also others, such as those who confess to each other, or confess online, etc.

I’m not sure if the piece will be only on confession, because they did a lot of filming of the day’s activities, including the 12:10 mass.

Let’s hope it’s done respectfully and fair. Be sure to tune in or record it. It will be on Good Morning America, ABC, early in the morning on Good Friday.

I thought I would reply to this to get it back up front since it will be on in a few days. (I hope I didn’t violate any rules by doing this!)

I’m using my DVR to watch it at a more convienent time, and to zip through all the other stuff they do.

Be sure to tune in.

I say as long as they are not violating anything handed down from Rome that this could be a good idea. It, IMHO, reaches out to Catholics and non-Catholics alike. And, I, too hope that ABC presents it in a good way.

Did anyone happen to watch this segment? I woke up too late to see it.

I didn’t see anything at all on this. I didn’t watch the show live, but I zipped my way through it on fast forward and didn’t see anything. I guess they changed their minds. They did spend quite a bit of time on the subject of prostitution, though. Signs of the times…

You got the day wrong. It was on yesterday morning. It was a little confusing and I feel like writing to Dianne Sawyer and explaining to her that the Church does not and will not allow cyber-confessions. The piece did point out that the Church requires the physical presence of the priest and penitent; however, I don’t think tht it was made clear enough in the piece.

By the way, that cyber-confessional thing is run by a Protestant group.

Well, I’m glad you saw it. ABC told us it would be on 3/21. But if it aired on 3/20 we missed it. Does anyone out there have it on video that can be emailed to me? I can;t find a link online for a replay, does anyone have one of those?

Thanks.
