As I understand the OP’s story, the confession during which he withheld a sin was his very first confession, which covered many years of his life. It was, in effect, a general confession. So it is his general confession which was invalidated and must be repeated. With regard to a general confession that includes all your past sins (confessed and unconfessed), I don’t agree that in your situation this is required. You need to confess what you ahve done since you last confession and if one sin is that you withheld sins in your last confession, you need to confess the withheld sin and the sin of witholding.
On a practical note, Bible Reader, how long did that first general confession take? Was it more than 10 minutes or so? If not, I’m sure you could do it without an appointment at a regularly scheduled confession time in any parish, at home or on vacation.
