The reality is that there isn’t a ‘right’ way of doing it. You just confess your sins humbly and sincerely, express your sorrow to God and ask for forgiveness, and the priest says " I absolve you." There is no ‘right way’.
I’ve had confession sitting in the parish priest’s living room drinking a cup of tea, talking about some other matter, and then asked him if he had time to give me a quick confession. Sins confessed, he absolves me, then we finish our tea and chat about other things. You don’t have to do it a particular way, you just have to be sincere.
