My parents wont take me to Confession, and don’t want me to go by myself because they don’t see the necessity of it. Should I obey them, and wait until they’ll take me?

How far away is your Church? Could you walk/bike easily? Or perhaps phoning your parish Priest for an appointment. He might be able to come to your home or meet you in a park or other place.

I support your endeavour and I hope it works out. :console:

They wouldnt want me to do that, either. Basically I’m wondering if I should obey them and wait until they will take me (probably at the end of the summer.)

Could you arrange for the priest to receieve your confession before or after mass?

The problem isnt so much with them not wanting to take me, its them thinking that Im overreacting when I think I need to go (even though I’m 99% sure I’ve committed a mortal sin). My only option that I have if I obey them is to wait until the end of summer.

Well, you do have to obey your parents. Until the end of summer, maybe prayer and spiritual communion will bring you comfort and peace.

It seems, based on your other posts, that you are scrupulous. Your parents likely do not know how to deal wth this situation.

You need to call your priest, explain that you are scrupulous, explain that your parents will not allow you to attend Confession regularly, ask the priest for his spiritual counsel and then FOLLOW IT.

well first of all, pray on it, because even if your parents say no, God can open a door for you,
and i would recommend just talking to them about it, you don’t have to tell them what sin you committed, but you can try to make it clear that you most certainly do need to go, confession when in the state of mortal sin should be as soon as possible, it should never be put off,
and even though you must be respectful and obedient to your parents, don’t let fear get in the way of speaking with them about it, or human respect, because it’s God who you have to worry about most, He’s the one who is offended by our sins, and he’s the one who has the last say where our soul goes, so it doesn’t matter so much if your parents know you’ve sinned mortally so long as you can get back your sanctifying grace…although i’m sure they would keep it to themselves, because they do love you, and i don’t think you have anything to worry about in that area,

but just pray on it, and try to get to a priest as soon as you can, even if it’s before or after mass(don’t be afraid to tell the priest you need confession, that’s what he’s there for)
your parents have no authority to tell you you can’t go to confession, and if they know you’re in the state of mortal sin and say they won’t take you, then they sin themselves that way, but i’m sure they wouldn’t do that…

anyways, hope this helps, take care.

I probably should’ve mentioned this earlier; my parents don’t really believe in the concept of mortal sin. They have more Protestant beliefs (you can just pray for forgiveness), so it gets really hard to convince them that I need to go. Another thing I’m wondering is if I have to wait until later to Confess, will an Act of Contrition be enough?

See post #7. The answer remains the same.
