There’s no need to tell the priest whether you think any given sin is mortal or venial, you simply confess it. And either way you receive absolution.

If you have mortal sins to confess, you are obliged to confess them in type and number, but you don’t need to say “I have committed the mortal sin of…” you merely say “I have committed the sin of…” (or whatever equivalent wording you use).

If you have committed venial sin, you are not obliged at all to confess them, although it is good to do so.

A misremembering is simply that is it not? One realizes later “oops”…and humbly realizes ones mistake. It was not intentional…it was an honest mistake, No worries.

the same thing that happens with every sin you confess in the sacrament, it is forgiven and you are absolved.

yes he would, but even if you committed an offense that merits excommunication, if you are a minor, or not aware of that penalty or the gravity of the offense, you are not excommunicated in any case.

Yes, a confessor would. If someone is excommunicated, they cannot receive the Church’s sacraments, so logically a priest would need to absolve the excommunication before receiving the confession (or if they are not authorised to lift the excommunication, they would advise you).

If a priest hears your confession and provides absolution, you should rest assured that they do not consider you to be excommunicated.
