Hi there!

I’ve been wanting to go to Confession for a little bit now - nothing major, just a few small things that I feel I would be more effective in tackling with the grace received from Reconciliation. But, while my parish priest is a great person and an excellent confessor, I sometimes feel that he knows me too well and that affects the quality of some of my confessions with him. So, I try to go to other priests (I also tend to struggle with the same sins over and over, and so I know what advice I’m likely to receive because I’ve received it before).

I’m heading to a different town tomorrow to see a friend. I had planned to stop into the Catholic Church there, and I’m wondering if it would be appropriate to ask the priest there to hear my Confession, even though I’m not a parishioner and I don’t have any mortal sins to confess. It would be outside normal confession hours for that parish, and I don’t want the priest to feel like I’m wasting his time. Or should I just wait until I can get to confession at a neighbouring parish? Or just suck it up and go to my own priest?

Thanks!

Perfectly fine. I would suggest making an appointment rather than just dropping in, but certainly no harm.

Perfectly fine.
But if you have a repeated sin, it is better I think to go to the same confessor, for that added factor of not wanting to have to confess the same sins again
