I know people have asked questions like this before but I’m very curious.
I went to confession a month ago and confessed any mortal sin I knew I had committed, was absolved, and left, trying to focuse more on God.
About a few weeks later, I remembered something else I had done several years before without the full knowledge of it being a mortal sin. I went to confession about 2 weeks later when I could and confessed it.
Now, however I realized that in Baltimore Catechism, it says that any mortal sins you leave out make your confession invalid and a sin of sacrilege to add on top of your previous offenses. So, if I seriously didn’t know it was a mortal sin and didn’t willingly leave it out but also received Communion in the time between remembering it and confessing it, did I commit another mortal sin?
Again, this is probably scruples but I want to know.
It was not in full knowledge of the grave matter, I did not willingly omit it in confession but I did receive Communion with the knowledge of needing to confess it even if it was venial.
So do I need to reconfess the contents of my past 2 confessions?

No.

Mortal sin requires full knowledge and consent.

You confessed what you were aware was a mortal sin. You did not willfully withhold a mortal sin. And besides, if you weren’t aware something was grave, as in the case of the past sin, it can’t possibly have been mortal.

You need to get help from a priest for your scruples, and not strangers on the internet. Posting these kinds of questions will only serve to feed your anxiety here.

Thank you! I was pretty sure that was the case and I’m glad to be reassured!

Confession is only invalidated by willfully omitting a mortal sin. If you accidentally omit a mortal sin, your confession is valid though you still need to confess that mortal sin at your next confession.

Keep in mind though, the obligation to confess only applies to mortal sins that are certain. If there’s doubt as to whether or not you were culpable, you do not need to confess it.
