I have decided to try to start taking my faith seriously so, am going to confession for the first time in over 4 years, and was wondering about something.
When i was confirmed i may have been in a state of mortal sin, but i am not sure, because of the requirement that one must know the sin they are committing is a mortal sin.

So how do I handle this when i go? I need answers as fast as possible and will not be checking back until this afternoon. Planning to go to confession today.

Thanks be to God that you have decided to go to Confession. For that particular sin, just tell the priest what it is and let him know you are not sure if it was a mortal sin. Still, confess the sin anyway and truly repent.

God loves you! 🙂

When we receive a sacrament (for example, Confirmation or Matrimony) in the state of mortal sin, we do not receive the graces of that sacrament. God does not enter a soul stained by mortal sin.

The wonderful thing is that, when we finally go to confession and confess whatever mortal sin(s) hindered us from receiving those sacramental graces, we receive those graces and they become active in our souls.

So, if indeed you were not in the state of grace at Confirmation, you will receive the graces of Confirmation when you go to Confession today. What a wonderful day!

ok I know that it is a mortal sin now but i’m not sure if i knew it then so do i just say i may have been in a state of mortal sin when i was confirmed.

Next time you go to confession…you can ask the confessor…But rest assured, I can bet all has been reconciled with the Lord.👍
