Confession question

Ok, so I know many things are sins, almost everything I feel like. However, what if I don’t know if something is a sin or not, should I confess just in case? And, in the case of mortal sin… I know you have to have full knowledge or consent , so does that mean if I know something is a sin, like lets gossiping, but i still do it… is that a mortal sin? Even though I try to not do it. ???

In short, no, gossiping would not normally be a mortal sin. In general, gossip would not fall under the category of “grave matter” – but it could be grave, under certain circumstances. Maybe you spread gossip you know to be false, and do it in such a way that it causes grave harm to another. Well, that might bump gossip up to a mortal sin.

Venial sins are never mortal sins. !!
Good Catholics just don’t commit mortal sins, its controdictory, it just isn’t possible for a good catholic to commit a mortal sin. The mortal sin is a deliberate sin against the ten commandments and against God.
You know that its a mortal sin, and do it anyway because you refuse the word of God in His commandments. You refuse the love of God, and chose the love of the devil instead.
It is not easy to commit a mortal sin.!!
If you do, doubt God, curse His name, refuse to honor Him on the Sabbath Day, refuse to honor your own parents, you steal and kill, and lust after and commit adultery, and bear false witness, with the understanding that its against the law of God, and you do it any way with full will and understanding, you will burn in hell for eternity, unless, you realize your mistakes and truly repent of you sin and confess it in confession to the Catholic priest,
the priest will ask Jesus to forgive you and give you absolution. The sin you committed will
be completely removed, as if it never happened.!! Thanks be to God for these great gifts of confession.!!:):):):):):):)🙂

Gossiping is only a mortal sin if its to hurt some one and its a lie, bearing false witness is a mortal sin. Everything that isn’t to the honor and glory of God could be a sin, but you don’t have to confess them unless they are dilibrate mortal sins, , you would be there all day. Even the great saints committed venial sins. Ask the priest if its a mortal sin and what makes it a mortal sin.
Committing the same mortal sin and confessing it every week and not stopping makes a mockery out of the sacrament of confession.

Does that apply to yourself as well? I’m so glad it only takes you one try to overcome a terrible sinful habit. Please don’t be shocked to find that for others, it sometimes takes a while. Does the phrase, “seventy times seven” mean anything to you?

Then count me a non-Catholic. But I will keep going to confession, and keep making the efforts to resist sin, and keep praying, and keep going to confession, and keep fixing my eyes on Him, and keep going to confession…

Hopefully, with God’s continuous abundance of grace, someday I will be a Catholic in your opinion. :rolleyes: But until that day, there is confession, thanks be to God and His merciful love. For some reason, He loves me and wants me ❤️
