Confession question

OK, I am very nervous everytime I go to confession. What is holding me back now is what I need to confess and ask for guidance on implicates someone else who does not regularly go to confession. Nothing illegal or terrible but grave to be sure. What do I do?

You do not need to name names in confession. You are there to confess your own sins, not anyone elses. If you sinned with someone else (ie robbed a bank together), you only need to confess your own role. Father, I robbed a bank. No need to bring up who planned, who drove the getaway car, etc.

Good example It’s nothing like that, though Not that terrible, juts more embarrassing for the other person who the priest would know who I was talking about

Don’t name names. You can say ‘my husband’ or ‘my daughter’ if that is relevant, otherwise just say ‘someone else’ or ‘another person’. If you are truly worried, go to a priest who doesn’t know them. Anyway, don’t mention this to the other person and they won’t be embarrassed.

A friend once confessed gossiping about a priest. The priest hearing her confession asked her who the priest was (IMHO an unnecessary question). She answered, “You, father.” He forgave her anyway.
