If I am not sure if a sin of mine actually occurred is it appropriate to tell the priest that I may have… (Insert Sin) ?

I would let the priest know what happened and state you don’t know if it was a sin or not and he can guide you.
Mary.

If you feel bad you about something it is very likely a sin, but ask your priest. It is better to tell all then leaving him guessing, and don’t be afraid to confess something that is not a sin (that do happen) because it will help you to talk about it, sin or not.

I am sure that the action was a sin but I am not sure if it actually happened or if my memory is faulty in remembering if I actually did it. Would it be best specify to the priest that I’m not completely sure I had did the said sin but in case I did I would like to confess it ?

Since it’s on your mind I would tell the priest there is a sin you may have committed but your memory might be faulty. He can guide you from there. Some people suffer from scrupulosity where they are extremely concerned everything is a sin. A priest can help counsel a person with that. Not that it’s you but if your’re worried talk to the priest.
It will put your mind at ease.
Mary.

Does my confession absolve me of all sins that I had committed prior to that confession ? Or is another confession necessary if I remember a sin that I had not already confessed at confession ?

Do you worry a lot about sin? I thought on another thread I saw a post from you that it interferes with your prayer life. I apologize if that was not you and a User with a similar user name but I think you should make an appointment with priest to ask these questions on your mind.

Mary.

It has become a concern for me because I want to start living a holy life so I can feel more peaceful.Growing up the faith was something that I wasn’t raised strictly. For me it meant attending Easter mass on occasion with my family and saying a rosary. I didn’t realize at the time that it required a whole lot more effort and commitment than a few prayers. I figure I should try to live the faith properly so I worry. I haven’t been to confession in a while so I just want to have things down before I go.
I have a feeling that the next confession I go to will be my first step back to the faith. A faith I barely practiced correctly in the first place.

I cerrtainly understand! I took a hiatus from the Church in college and it helps some people to make a list if it’s been awhile and take it with them. If you have a question or
two you can do so in the confessional, more than that an appointment is prudent.
If you might have a very long confession I would make an appointment with a priest as well just to be courteous to those in line.

What a great thought to live a holy life that might lend itself to the peace of Christ that transcends all understanding. Lets keep our heart and mind on Christ. Hope your confession goes well, don’t worry…the priest will help take the lead and you’ll hear those blessed words of absolution.

Blessings,
Mary.
