So, I went to confession today and there is something I need to clarify in what I confessed. I didn’t lie, and my answer was spontaneous, but I do need to go back and say, “Although when I confessed X, and Father asked if Y were true, and I said no, there is a sense in which it could be seen as true.” I know my absolution is valid; I wasn’t deliberately lying, just not thinking everything through in the moment. What I’m wondering about is – do I need to go back to confession say, tomorrow (we have it every day) just to clarify, or can I wait until my next regular confession?

Thanks!

Francesca

If one did not deliberately conceal a mortal sin…it is absolved…but one needs to confess it in the next confession they make…if they do not forget by accident…

they do not have to go sooner on that account and may go to communion etc…

now if it was a venial sin…nothing needs be done at all…nothing.. go in peace…

(not asking which it was…just giving both sides)

That’s what I was thinking, but I tend toward the anxious (there’s an understatement) and just wanted a little reassurance! 🙂 I will probably go again on Divine Mercy Sunday so can mention it then as well. Thanks!
