Ok, so I went to confession today, and the priest seemed to be a visiting priest from the Philippines, and he was not exactly fluent in english. So when it came time for absolution he said: “I absolve you of your sins, father, son, and holy spirit” Does the lack of “in the name of” preceding the trinity, make his absolution invalid? I don’t know if its his accent or the way he said it but I don’t recall him saying “in the name of” he may have only said “in father, son, and holy spirit” but it was hard to tell through the screen and through his accent. I assume by invoking the trinity regardless that he had the intent to absolve me in the name of trinity, no? Anyways, i can tend to be a bit anxious regarding confession, and would appreciate some insight here =/
