Everyday Catholics on the forum post about sin they have committed and how it troubles them .

One can sense the guilt , the shame and fear their sin brings .

Usually the solution rests in the Sacrament of Reconciliation , but some have a fear of Confession . What will the priest think of me ? What will he say ? Aren’t I too “dirty” even to go to the Sacrament of Reconciliation ?

I am posting a video here of a talk given by our bishop , Bishop John Arnold , when he was an auxiliary bishop in the Diocese of Westminster before he became Bishop of Salford .

I have watched it many times .

For those who have problems with Confession I think it may well help them . For those who frequent the sacrament regularly it may deepen the way they approach the sacrament .

One of the best presentations of the Sacrament of Reconciliation that I have heard. Thank you for posting.

Thanks stuartbrianhenlis and HeDa for your encouraging posts .

If I were involved in adult Catholic formation the video would be a must .

Bishop John Arnold gives a great presentation of the sacrament .

Thank you again .

Three links to what the Holy Father has said about the sacrament which connect with some of what is said on the video…

For the longest time, I did not go to confession. At times, I did not feel worthy of forgiveness. But after a long while, I went back. First I conferred with the priest. He helped put my mind at ease. It felt great to gain absolvement of my sins. I just hope and pray that I now go to confession on a regular basis. The devil sets many traps for us to keep us away from confession. Us going to confession pleases God. We must endeavor to do what God wants.

That’s great to hear , Jack .

Thanks for your words . Hopefully they will encourage those who feel the same way as you once did .

Nothing to be afraid of. Just go, confess, be contrite, ask for forgiveness, and receive absolution. Confession is a wonderful thing! Hallelujah, AMEN!
