I have recently come back to the church after about 10 years. I was baptised when I was a baby and recieved my first reconciliation and communion when I was younger. I have never been confirmed. I went to confession 5 days ago, and went to mass today and recieved the Eucharist. After mass I remembered some things I had done that I had forgot to confess, that I believe may be mortal sins. I called the closest church and they said that they would take a message and a preist would call back tomorrow. I asked if there was any chance of doing it today, but there is a mass starting soon. Do I just have to wait until tomorrow?

There’s no need to worry. As long as you confessed all the sins you remembered at the time, you were restored to the state of grace and the sin was forgiven with the others. You will want to confess this sin at your next confession, as failing to do so would constituted a mortal sin in and of itself, but you are not in mortal sin now as long as you confessed all that you remembered at the time.

It is very common for people who have been away from the Church for a while to forget a few sins during their first confession. When you remember, there is no need to worry. Just confess it at the next confession.

God Bless and congratulations on returning to the Church. I’m sure all of heaven is still rejoicing, as our Lord said (Luke 15:7).

You have been absolved so you’re okay. Just tell the priest the next time you go to confession. I had to divulge 17 and a half years. I went through for weeks to make sure I remembered everything. You may remember more as time passes. But just mention them the next time you go to confession.

Probably. It’s up to the priest/parish schedule and ‘on request’ appointment opportunities.

But even sins you forgot while you were in the confessional are forgiven.
Just next time you go to confession, mention you had forgotten some sins last time and then list them.

🙂
