Hi
I asked a question a few weeks ago, and one of the answers said I needed to have certain sacrements before I could confess. I wanted to know if this is right?? because I’m not capable of taking RCIA at this time as I am a GCSE student so have very little time, and there are no nearby churches offering RCIA. But anyway…I feel I need to confess - and I consider myself a catholic, so this is a very important part of the religion to me. To be honest - not being able to repent is making me feel like a fraud, and incomplete.
I need some way of repenting, so if i cant confess in the usual way, is there something else I can do???

Amy, the only Sacrament you need in order to confess is Baptism.

If you were baptised Catholic, then you can go to confession at any time–but keep in mind that you should also explain your situation to your confessor. If you were baptised non-Catholic then the only way to make a sacramental confession is to be a participant in the RCIA program and to make your confession as one of the final acts of preparation for reception into the Church.

You can also speak with your local Catholic pastor and explain your situation to him. He may be able to make some kind of accomodations for you to participate in RCIA in a way that considers your difficult schedule.
