I’ve decided that tomorrow I am going to confess something that I have been avoiding for a good 5 years at least.

I am pretty freaked out, and knowing me I may freeze up and totally forget to confess it in the last minute. I think I may write it down, incase that happens… hm.

but at any rate, I am very nervous/afraid/etc to the point where I get physically sick just thinking about this. Prayers that I have the strength to go through with this would be greatly appreciated! Because I need to confess and let this go.

also, prayers that I can afford my #1 choice college would be appreciated too… I’m still waiting on financial aid info, but I’ve gotten some from other colleges and this is looking kinda iffy.

True courage is doing something that your really scared about,
and you have my deep respect for your intention to confess this sin.
Ask the Holy Spirit both to remind you, and to give you the courage and the words. I ask Him for you
Please try to have a good rest now, and look forward to a greater sense of freedom and joy than you may have had for along time.
I’ll be praying for you.
God bless you dear soul 🙂

Praying for you!

Offer the nerves up as additional penance for that sin - and let it remind you not to commit it again in future.

Above all, be honest - say to the priest ‘I have a sin to confess which is going to be very hard for me to do - I’ve been avoiding confessing it for five years’.

But a note of caution. I don’t want to throw a spanner in the works, but there are ramifications. If it is a mortal sin and you’ve been deliberately omitting confessing it, it means that all your confessions during the five years are actually invalid. Means you’d need to confess all your mortal sins of that time again.

If necessary (ie if your confession is likely to be long as a result), perhaps leave the confession for a day or a few, make an appointment with your priest and do a thorough examination of conscience.

Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the Fruit of Thy Womb,
Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of our death.
Amen

Praying for you-

Hail Mary, full of grace, The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of death. Amen

Dear Lord, by now raindrOps will have already been to you for confession. Thank you for gracing her and absolving her, like you do for all of us when we contritely take our sins to you. Help her get into the best college, the one that is part of your plan for her. She wants to go to a college in particular. If this is in accord with your will for her, please allow her to go there. You have a plan for her life, please let her accept lovingly whatever it is you want for her and whereever you want her to attend. She must have good reason for preferring one college over another. Please help her get into the college best suited for her spiritual needs, and I pray that it will be the college she already wants to go to. I ask this in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

St. Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,
and do thou,
O Prince of the heavenly hosts,
by the power of God,
thrust into hell Satan,
and all the evil spirits,
who prowl about the world
seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

The following prayer has always helped me with any fears/doubts etc with confession. I will be praying for you

Lord Jesus, I come before Thee, just as I am, I am sorry for my sins, I repent of my sins, please forgive me. In Thy Name, I forgive all others for what they have done against me. I renounce Satan, the evil spirits and all their works. I give Thee my entire self, Lord Jesus, I accept Thee as my Lord God and Savior. Heal me, change me, strengthen me in body, soul, and spirit.

Come Lord Jesus, cover me with Thy Precious Blood, and fill me with Thy Holy Spirit, I love Thee Lord Jesus, I praise Thee Lord Jesus, I thank Thee Jesus, I shall follow Thee every day of my life. Amen.

Mary, My Mother, Queen of Peace, all the Angels and Saints, please help me. Amen.

Good advice above.

Praying for you to make a good Confession and also for your college plans to work out…

Praying that God may give you His strength and healing as you “cast your cares upon Him”.

ahhh I love confession! Thanks for the prayers, everyone! The closer the confession time came, the more peaceful I felt, it was kinda cool. I had no prob confessing everything! (for the first time in 5 or so years) 😃

You did read my post before you went, though? I’m worried now that possibly your five years’ worth of confessions are all invalid and all need to be redone.

oh yes, sorry for not replying before! I don’t think it was a mortal sin since when it started years ago, and by the time that the circumstances had changed to the point where it could have been serious enough to be a mortal sin, it was habitual. But either way I can’t recall any past mortal sins, so I should be ok. Which I understand that if it was just a venial sin it was forgiven at mass, but I like to hear the absolution one on one with a priest. the reassurance is a huge relief :o

Only thing that’s bothering me now is that this sin has good consequences that I cannot reverse, and now a large part of my life is undeserved… to say the least 😦

That’s fine then.

In regard to ‘deserving’ - there’s a great story about some elderly actor receiving an award and he said ‘well, I really don’t deserve this award… but then again I have arthritis and I don’t deserve that either!’.

We don’t really deserve most of what happens to us - the good or the bad. Just thank God for the former and ask Him to help you with the latter.
