I am curious about 2 things if I need to go to confession over them BEFORE I recive the Eucharist.

I bought a snake without my parents permission. Because I knew that they would say no. i wen to confession for that. However, to my knowledge, they dont even know about the 2nd snake. and everytime a conversation in the house comes up, I say THE snake, not snakes. I guess thats kind of lying / disceaveing them. Well, with my own guilt, I think im going to get rid of the second one in so I dont have to take the heat for haveing it, and also because it disrespects/ dishoners them and I feel bad because it offends God. As much as i like the 2nd one…I need to get rid of it…So I already went to confession for haveing bought it…but do i need to go to confession for not telling them / deceveing them? or could I just ask God for forgivenes privately?

also, I repated something to a friend that my parents didnt want to be repated , because it hurt my friends feelings. (yes i feel bad about it). and my parents are upset with me. I didnt intentonaly mean to hurt my friends feelins, nor did i intentonaly mean to make them mad, but there still mad and upset with me anyway. I lost their trust 😦 The moment I realised I did something wrong, I asked for gods forgiveness…

Either way I am planing on confessing these at the next confession. However, my qustion is, am I in mortal sin? 2 of the reqiurements are for sure. but im not sure about the grave matter requirement…are these grave matter(s)? I mean, theres nothing here that involves murder, or sexuaity, or abortion, or speaking bad about God…

I guess I just need some re asurances… And I am a little scrupulous, but thats because I am afraid of God some-what, and also because I am afraid to recive the Eucharist in a state of ANY sin…I just always feel so unworthy for reciveing it and i feel like everytime I do, i am doing something wrong, when i know its something that is right…i guess i dont trust my self.

You need to go to Confession and tell the Priest the same thing you told us. Just to be safe - dont go to Communion until you do. Dont rely on Laymen - rely on the Sacrament Christ gave all of us Catholics. We cannot forgive your sins - a Priest can.

I don’t know how old you are, but in my opinion you are well on the way to become hagridden by scruples. You might address this in your confession to the priest as well as your sins. 👍

I agree with what Rob’t Burns said about definitely seeing a priest. I have an opinion about whether you are in mortal sin, and your tendency to scrupulosity makes my opinion even stronger, but I would be afraid to mislead you. Talk to a priest. Buying a snake isn’t grave matter. It won’t even be sinful in a few short years when you are paying your own bills. But direct disobedience to the known will of your parents can’t be taken lightly and it can’t continue.

I have an additional idea!!! Ask your parents what they think if you are really interested in finding out if it is grave matter. Why are you asking us who don’t know the history of the whole thing like your Mom and Dad? For a good reason, the child Jesus stayed in Jerusalem without His parents knowledge and caused consternation. After that, His life as the youngest member of the Holy Family is summarized with, “And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject to them.” I don’t think our Lord would have brought a snake into the house without permission, then after getting reluctant permission after the fact, secretly get a second one.

The agonizing of mind isn’t worth either snake is it? God loves you very much, even with your cool, but illicit snakes, and so should your parents. God and your parents want you to be fully reconciled with them. At peace with God and at peace with your parents. The price for the peace of God is the submission to God’s will that Jesus gave through His parents. Thank God for the guilt that won’t go away until you make everything right. Don’t put your soul at risk for anything. I have a hunch you need to give up the snakes, even if it is decided that it hasn’t been mortally sinful. Deliberate venial sin has to be crushed just like the head of the serpent, or else it will come back to bite you.

And don’t forget to see a priest. Some good priests are less inclined to “counsel” in the confessional than others. It can be hard for them to hear long and detailed explanations. You might make an appointment for counselling with a good priest, especially explaining your scrupulosity.

God love you,

Rory
