Has it ever occured that a priest has disclosed what he has heard in Confession?I ask this because at a recent hearing in Dublin, the Irish Taoiseach (PM) Enda Kenny is calling for all cases of abuse heard in the Confessional to be reported to the authotities.

There has never been a known case of a priest making known what he has heard in confession.
And only the Pope can reinstate him as a priest, it is a very serious offense.
Even among those priests that have left the priesthood, there has never been any revealment to what he heard in confession.

I sure hope the priests in Ireland and elsewhere never have to face this situation. Abuse is a horrible offense, but the Sacramental Seal of Confession in inviolable and sacrosanct.

However, the priest can and should help the penitant to do what is right.

Kenney is way out of line.

No priest can reveal what has been heard; if they do they are excommunicated.
